MATERIALS

Creating new products always has a footprint. Tasman is always exploring: looking for replacements for materials with a lower footprint and minding people and animal welfare. If you know a better material or you know someone who knows. Please help us explore and send us an email explore@tasmanbags.com

LEATHER: The outside of Tasman bag is made out of leather. Leather is made from bull skin and during a proces that is called tanneries it is made into the leather we know. The process is done with great possible durability. While dividing the molds and cutting the leather there are always left over parts. To reduce waste we make accessoires out of these parts.

PAPER leather:  snappap is a new material also called vegan leather. It is made of cellulose and latex. It looks and feels like leather, but is paper and washable.

CORK: The inside of the bag is made out of cork-fabric. Cork fabric is made from a thin layer of cork with a backing material.

ORGANIC COTTON: is used for the zipper compartment and extra storage compartment
Organic cotton is grown on plantations where farmers use only natural ingredients and methods. There is no use in the fields made of chemical pesticides or fertilizers. The cotton is picked by hand and other crops are regularly grown in the cotton fields in order to prevent erosion of the soil.
